Giant Shirota is a giant — both figuratively and literally, in the Japanese competitive eating scene. Standing over 195 cm tall, and possessing a speed and capacity for scarfing down meals no normal human can achieve, he toppled a number of competitive eating records in Japan and overseas.
This impressive tally includes three wins out of four appearances in Food Battle Club in Japan, and a second place finish at the world famous Nathan’s 4th of July Hotdog Eating Contest. Even after he has officially retired from the Japanese competitive eating scene, he’s still a celebrity in his native Japan.
He is also a proud restaurant owner, with an udon shop and a chain of kushi-katsu retaurants to his name. Combining his expertise for eating and making food, Giant Shirota will be gracing Ramen Revolution 2017 with his (literally) enormous presence.
