The late Fujio Akatsuka brought us great manga like Tensai Bakabon and Osomatsu-kun. But did you know that his daughter, Reiko Akatsuka, wrote an essay book depicting the mangaka’s autobiography? And now, NHK has revealed that they’re adapting that very autobiography into a 5-episode mini series.

The book’s title is Bakabon no Papa Yori Baka na Papa (A Father More Stupid Than Bakabon’s Father), but NHK still hasn’t revealed the mini-series’ official title yet. It will star Tetsuji Tamayama as the legendary mangaka behind Mr. Osomatsu himself, Fujio Akatsuka. It will also star Manami Higa, Kyoko Hasegawa, Aoi Morikawa, Baba Tooru, and Mitsuko Kusabue.

NHK will be airing it as a weekly series starting 30th June 2018. It will follow Akatsuka-sensei’s life as a mangaka, as well as his own family life. However, this isn’t the only live-action work which his life inspired because he also had a biographical film back in 2011. The great mangaka passed away due to esophageal cancer in 2008, but his work lives on with Mr. Osomatsu.
