Via Nijimen: an all-new sports anime production of the award-winning college marathon race novel “Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru” (Feel the Wind) by Japanese novelist Miura Shion is in the works!

The series centres on the competitive world of the “Hakone Ekiden” – officially the shortened name of the prominent inter-varsity ”Tokyo-Hakone Round-Trip College Relay Marathon Race” – that takes play annually on the 2nd and 3rd of January between Tokyo and Hakone; and attracts runners from university track teams all over Japan to participate.

The production team features prominent staff from both TOHO Animation and Production I.G.: Director Kazuya Nomura – known for his work on the new “Ghost in the Shell” animation movie as well as the wartime Japanese spy series “Joker Game” – will be heading the production. Character designs will be headed by Takahiro Chiba – known for his design and concept artworks for the popular high-school volleyball series “Haikyuu!!” and Makoto Shinkai’s internationally acclaimed “Your Name”.

The main character of the series will be voiced by new actor Takeo Ootsuka, along with veteran voice actor Toshiyuki Toyonaga. The voice actors for the rest of the characters will gradually be revealed so please stay tuned for further updates. “Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru” animation is scheduled to air in October 2018.
