We previously reported about “Hataraku Saibou” (lit. “Cells at Work!”) getting an animation adaptation slated for broadcast commencement in July 2018, and they are tying up with the Japan Red Cross for some publicity and a great deal of good cause. Then the additional news (pictured below – bottom-left corner) came that this same series will also be getting a live-action theatrical stage production, and they have just announced the main casts!
Playing the role of Neutrophil – a type of white blood cell that protects the human body from attacks of foreign germs/viruses by killing them – is Masanari Wada. The young Osaka-born 2.5D actor has been active in his theatrical career since 2012 but the major turning point that caused his popularity to sky-rocket was probably in 2016 when he played the role of Heshikiri Hasebe in the very first stage play adaptation of popular game “Touken Ranbu”; also reprising the same role for all subsequent productions. Since then he had taken many other major roles in various other stage and musical productions, including:

In his Twitter post, Wada mentioned his fellow actor (from the current “Touken Ranbu” theatrical run he is in) pointed at him after see the official cast announcement exclaiming “You are a germ!!!”…said tweet received more than 15,000 likes and was shared nearly 5,000 times.
Playing the role of Erythrocyte (Red Blood Cell) is Kanon Nanaki. The multi-talented fashion model-turned idol/talent was the actress of the beautiful and charming ‘Sailor Mars’ in the 2013, 2014 and 2015 productions of the “Sailormoon” Musical franchises. She also participated in the 2016 theatrical production of “Dangan Ronpa the Stage” – acting the role of split-personality character Touko Fukawa/Genocide Jack. In the 2017 production of “Live Spectacle ‘NARUTO’, Nanaki played the role of Karin.
