Major Japanese manga publishers KADOKAWA, Kodansha, Shueisha, and Shogakukan have banded together to create a campaign to stop manga piracy. Dubbed “STOP! Pirated Editions“, the goal of the campaign is to show fans the extent of the damage that manga piracy has cost the industry.

The publishers have utilized the popularity of some of their most famous characters, such as Conan from “Detective Conan”, Meliodas from “Seven Deadly Sins”, Luffy from “ONE PIECE”, and Atsushi Nakajima from “Bungo Stray Dogs”.

In a manga published on the special “STOP! Pirated Editions” site, manga artists can not live properly due to lost income, artists refuse to join an industry that is guaranteed to make a loss, new talent cannot be nurtured due to lack of role models, and bookstores and online shops will close shop due to lack of sales from manga and comics.
