The anime adaptation of Natsuki Takaya’s worldwide bestseller “Fruits Basket” will be getting a reboot on TV Tokyo in 2019. The initial staff and cast of the reboot have been announced as well. It has been 18 years since the release of the original anime.

The new “Fruits Basket” stars popular contemporary seiyuus Manaka Iwami, Nobunaga Shimazaki, Yuuma Uchida, and Yuuichi Nakamura. The new series will be directed by Yoshihide Ibata (“FLCL Progressive”), series composition by Taku Kishimoto, character design by Yuu Shindou, and animation production by TMS Entertainment.

“Fruits Basket” follows orphaned high school student Tohru Honda, who was invited by her classmates Yuki and Shigure Sohma to live with them when her relatives abandoned her. There she discovers that the Sohma clan are cursed by the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac. Tohru resolves to break the curse, as well as grows to love her unusual new family.
