It looks like Sega‘s Sakura Wars franchise isn’t just getting a new video game, but it’s also getting a new TV anime! In fact, this new anime will be adapting this latest game, which is officially titled in English as Project Sakura Wars. They also revealed a new PV, as well as a key visual:

The anime’s title is Sakura Wars the Animation, and it will debut sometime in 2020. Sanjigen will be handling the animation production, with Sword Art Online Alicization’s Manabu Ono directing the series. Kohei Tanaka, who has worked on the franchise since 1996, will be working on the anime’s musical production as well. The cast from the game will be reprising their roles in the anime as well. The cast includes:

  • Ayane Sakura as Sakura Amamiya
  • Youhei Azakami as SeijÅ«rou Kamiyama
  • Maaya Uchida as Hatsuho Shinonome
  • Saori Hayami as Clarissa Snowflake
  • Hibiku Yamamura as Azami Mochizuki
  • Ayaka Fukuhara as Anastasia Palma

As for the game, it’s titled Shin Sakura Taisen (Project Sakura Wars). Its new story is set in Tokyo, 12 years after the events of Sakura Wars V. It will follow protagonist Seijurou Kamiyama as he leads a “New Imperial Assault Force” to fight against the re-emerging Kouma.
