It’s the third and final day of C3AFASG19, and the crowds are still thronging Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Center! There are queues everywhere as people are doing some last-minute merchandise shopping, catching the final Day Stage and Akiba Stage performances, and winning a few prizes from the many Akiba Town and AFA Play sponsors!

One of the biggest booths at this year’s event, MUSE X HAKKEN, were already almost sold out by the morning of the third day, so we were finally able to browse their display to our heart’s content. We were even able to play around with some of their fun and friendly staff, who were promoting a variety of goods from “Sword Art Online: Alicization”, “That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime”, and so many others!

Girls often lament that most Japanese pop culture events cater to boys, but this year’s C3AFASG saw record queues at female-orientated contents such as CYBIRD and their new virtual idol I’m Sora, cosmetic brand Flower Knows by Hana & Baozi, and the sold-out “Hypnosis Microphone” screening held at the maiden “AFA Film Festival” — a separately-ticketed event held at the third floor of the Suntec Singapore Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Two huge talent competitions were also wrapping up on the last day of the convention: LUMICA’s “Cyalume Dance World Battle 2019” — where the winner will be the official Singapore representative to the world finals in Tokyo, and the WACAVA project jointly held by Tokyo Otaku Mode and SACRA MUSIC with the cooperation of DAM Karaoke. One of our reporters tried out for laughs, and managed to qualify for the next round, so who knows — maybe the next anisong star is on the SO JAPAN staff!

The final night of I LOVE ANISONG featured four fabulous female performers, who just happen to come from the same label — HoriPro International! Ayaka Ohashi, Azusa Tadokoro, May’n, and Minori Chihara rocked the hall with their drop-dead gorgeous beats and soaring vocals! As calls for encore grew louder and louder at the end of the night, May’n, and Minori Chihara returned onstage to do an amazing cover of “Don’t Say Lazy” from “K-ON!”, backed up by May’n’s amazing live band!

But probably the biggest number of the night was the collaboration of all four artistes on Sunday — Ayaka Ohashi, Azusa Tadokoro, May’n, and Minori Chihara covering “Butter-Fly” from “Digimon Adventure”, which totally brought the house down! As May’n said, “This happens rarely even in Japan,” and we couldn’t help but feel pumped up to be able to watch this live!

It’s been another record-breaking C3AFA Singapore, and we hope everyone had as much fun as we did. See you all again next year for #C3AFASG20!
