Via ITMedia and SoraNews: SEGA Building 2 has been part of the Akihabara landscape for close to two decades, but is, unfortunately, going out with a whimper instead of the bang, as the famed arcade is closing down for good on 20th August 2020.

No specific details were given for the closure, but it would be safe to assume that the business was hit hard by the recent COVID-19 pandemic. The arcade just recently reopened after being forced to halt operations with Tokyo-wide lockdown measures, but it seems it won’t stay open for very long.

Japanese otaku are already saying their goodbyes and sharing their memories via Twitter.
