Via Famitsu: “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie – Mugen Train”, which has been playing in Japanese cinemas for about 40 days, in over 414 screens nationwide, has officially become the third best-selling animated film in Japanese movie history.

The film has been watched by roughly 19.4 million cinemagoers for a total box office take of approximately JPY 26 billion — ranking third behind only two other films, “Frozen” (2014) at #1 and “Kimi no Na ha.” (2016) at #2 respectively.

“Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie – Mugen Train” was also the fastest film in Japanese movie history to earn JPY 10 billion, taking only ten days to reach the sum. In comparison, Studio Ghibli’s biggest box office hit “Spirited Away” ran for 25 days before totalling the same amount.
