Via Comic Natalie: the 98th volume of Eiichiro Oda’s “ONE PIECE” has just dropped in Japan, and with this release, the total number of “ONE PIECE” volumes in print has exceeded 480 million worldwide. Japan alone has over 400 million copies, while the rest of the world makes up the remaining 80 million in a number of different languages.

In commemoration of the release, a special giveaway is being held on social video site Tiktok, where fans can share videos using the limited edition “ONE PIECE” effects. Submissions can be made with the hashtag #麦わらの一味の負ける気がしねェチャレンジ (“The Straw Hat Pirates Can’t Lose!”), and ten winners will be selected to win copies of the original artwork by Eiichiro Oda gracing the cover of “ONE PIECE” Volume 98.

ONE PIECE” is also holding a series of events to celebrate the release of its 1000th chapter, one if which is a global popularity poll “WORLD TOP 100” — where fans from all over the world can choose their top 100 favourites from 1,174 ONE PIECE characters.

WORLD TOP 100” will run from 4th January to 28th February, where fans can each vote once a day for their favourite character. The results will be published to show the differences in preferences from fans in different parts of the world, highlighting both the diversity and the similarity of ONE PIECE lovers the world over.
