Three-member band, Sonar Pocket, is providing the opening theme for fall anime, World Trigger, airing since 5 October 2014. The song, “GiriGiri”, is an up-tempo piece from their 18th single, “Egao no Riyuu/GiriGiri”. World Trigger is adapted from a manga series by Daisuke Ashihara serialized in Weekly Shounen Jump. The story is set in a time when the world is under an imminent threat of invasion from the “Neighbors”. As if on cue, the world finds herself an ally when a defense agency, “Borders”, mysteriously appears.

The group , composed of Ko-dai (Main vocal), eyeron ( Vocals & Rap ) , and matty (DJ) , are said to be fans of the series. They tried to incorporate the Ashihara sensei’s  world view when they composed for the theme song, “GiriGiri”. The group are familiar faces to the anime music scene . Back in 2010, their first single under Tokuma Japan Communication, “Never Give Up!”, was used as the opening theme for Digimon Xros War.

“Egao no Riyuu/GiriGiri ” will have a limited version (A &B) and a regular version (A &B) when it is released on 5 November 2014. Version A  release will come with the artiste’s photo as a cover jacket, while the version B release will have an illustration from World Trigger.
