Stock up on some tissues next year as Your Lie in April (Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso), will be getting itself a live-action movie adaptation, which would surely make the tears gush out like crazy.

Slated for release sometime in 2016 (no exact release date has been announced), the movie will star Kento Yamazaki, who currently stars in the live-action Death Note TV series as L. He will be playing the role of Kousei Arima, the genius child musician who has quit playing the piano after his abusive mother passed away. Yamazaki admitted that playing Kousei would be a challenge, as his personal struggles are quite heavy.

Playing the lovable violinist with a tragic secret, Kaori Miyazono, will be Suzu Hirose, who previously starred in Chihayafuru: Shimo no Ku as Chihaya. Hirose commented that she has already read the script and thought that the story is beautiful. Even though this will be the first time she has ever even touched a violin, she promises to do her best.

Playing Kousei’s tomboyish childhood friend and softball club ace, Tsubaki Sawabe, will be Anna Ishii, who is a J-pop star and is a member of the all-girl group, E-Girls.

Completing Kousei’s childhood friends trio is Taishi Nakagawa, who previously appeared in Ao Oni 2.0 as Hiroshi. Nakagawa will be playing Kousei’s best friend and football club ace, Ryouta Watari.

The movie will be directed by Takehiko Shinjou, who is best known for live-action romance movies such as Kiyoku Yawaku, so expect this live-action adaptation to be in good hands. He will be working with Yukari Tatsui (Strawberry Night live-action series), who wrote the movie’s screenplay.
