A leaked magazine scan from the upcoming issue# 46 of Kodansha’s Weekly Shounen Magazine has revealed new details on the upcoming A Silent Voice (Koe no Katachi) animated feature film, and it is none other than Kyoto Animation (KyoAni) producing the film’s animation.
The scan also revealed that the person at the helm of this animated movie project is Naoko Yamada, who is best known for directing both K-On! anime as well as the movie, while Shochiku will be responsible for distributing the film in Japan.
The anime is based on the critically acclaimed manga by Yoshitoki Oima of the same name. Here’s how Crunchyroll describes the manga’s story:
I wish we had never met. I wish we could meet once again. A boy who can hear, Shoya Ishida, and a transfer student who can’t, Shoko Nishimiya. One fateful day, the two meet, and Shoya leads the class in bullying Shoko. But before long, the class shifts its target from Shoko to Shoya. Years later, Shoya feels strongly that he must see Shoko once again.
The anime movie adaptation was actually announced last year, though when it was announced, not much information was given.
