featured anime asterisk

It’s been a long wait, but the featured anime at Anime Festival Asia 2015 have finally been announced! Presenting to you – The Asterisk War!

The synopsis for The Asterisk War is as follows:

Invertia (meteor storm)… an unprecedented disaster that struck the world during the 20th century.

Due to this disaster, numerous cities around the world were destroyed.

However, within the meteor, an unknown element called mana, the all-encompassing element, was discovered, which allowed human technology to make rapid strides in advancement.

This also gave rise to a new species of humans born with unique skills – the Star Pulse Generation Genestella.

The setting for the world’s greatest comprehensive battle spectacle, the Festas, is an academy city above the water surrounded by six academies called Rikka also commonly known as Asterisk.

Having transferred into Seidoukan Academy in order to fulfil his own wish, scholarship student Ayato Amagiri swears he too will fight in this city.

Burning souls race… The curtain rises on this school battle spectacle.

This session is open to all fans holding at least Exhibition + Stage tickets, and also includes access to other day stage events featuring voice actress appearances, anisong artiste appearances, ARCC cosplay competition and performances.

asterisk profiles

You may have heard of Atsushi Tamaru in some of his other roles, which include Akira Kunimi in Haikyu!!, Takuma Hachimine in Meganebu!, Mochizo Oji in Tamako Market and Mikihiko Yoshida in The Irregular at Magic High School. He also voiced the sword Ichigo Hitofuri in the hit online game, Touken Ranbu, and artist-idol Akiwo Tobikura in the mobile game I★Chu. While Tamaru is still a fresh face in the seiyuu scene, he is definitely one whom I am keeping a lookout for.

While novelist Yuu Miyazaki only seems to have The Asterisk War under his belt, director Manabu Ono has experience working as a director for other well-loved anime too, such as A-Channel, The Irregular at Magic High School, and Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere. As an avid anime fan myself, I’m always intrigued to hear the production team share tidbits with the audience on how the anime was made and conceptualized. This year will be no different!
