Sony has now opened pre-orders for their new VR headset, the PlayStation VR, and it seems that its a whole lot more popular than initially expected. Long lines were formed outside of the stores where people can pre-order it, and it’s not just in Tokyo!
One of Japan’s largest newspaper publications, Mainichi News, has reported that approximately 500 people lined up in Yodobashi Camera Akihabara in Tokyo. According to @kaztsu, people have camped out as early as 10:00 p.m. At around 5:30 am, approximately 150 people are already in line.

And apparently, Yodobashi Camera Shinjuku was no different from its Akihabara counterpart.

Sadly, not everyone was able to pre-order, as the shop cut-off the pre-orders at around 1:20 am because they have reached their limit. Shops like Yamada Denki shop in Ikebukuro only have a limited number of units available for pre-orders, in their case, it’s 280 units, however, more than that number showed up.

While Tokyo was expected to have a lot, Osaka also got plenty of people wanting to get their hands on the PS VR, with an estimated 300 people lining up. 30 of them have been spotted as early as the evening before the pre-orders even opened.

Well, that certainly makes one excited for this new piece of gaming tech. So, who else is excited to get their hands on one?
