The winter 2017 anime season is shaping up to be a big one, as Newtype Magazine has revealed that Studio Trigger’s Little Witch Academia TV anime will be airing next season, starting January.

The issue also revealed that the main cast from the two original anime short films are also reprising their roles for the TV anime, and they are:

  • Megumi Han as Atsuko “Akko” Kagari
  • Fumiko Orikasa as Lotte Yanson
  • Michiyo Murase as Sucy Manbavaran
  • Youko Hikasa as Diana Cavendish
  • Arisa Shida as Amanda O’Neill
  • Rie Murakawa as Constanze von Braunschbank Albrechtsberger

Series creator, Yoh Yoshinari, is also returning as the TV anime’s director, with Little Witch Academia 2 writer, Michiru Shimada, penning the script.

According to an announcement by Trigger president, Masahiko Otsuka, the TV anime’s episodes will be 30-minutes long, and the man responsible for Little Witch Academia himself, Yoh Yoshinari, will be coming back at the helm of the project as the director. Otsuka also promised that they are diving head on for the project.

Little Witch Academia made its debut during the 2013 edition of the Anime Mirai. It became an instant hit, and because of its popularity, many people wanted a sequel. Thanks to a crowdfunding project on Kickstarter, Little Witch Academia: The Enchanted Parade is now made possible as the movie reached its US$15,000 goal is just 6 hours. The sequel made its premiere last 3 July 2016 in Los Angeles, California during the Anime Expo event.
