The news of its consideration was announced by Funimation, which has been the film’s official distributor in the United States. According to them, your name. is now on the official consideration list for the Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature at the 89th annual Academy Awards. The submission deadline to be considered for the award was November 1.

But in order to be considered for an Oscar, the film had to be shown in Los Angeles, and that is why it will have its Oscar-qualifying theatrical run from 2nd – 8th December, inside the city’s Laemmle Music Hall. Films can be submitted before their week-long qualifying run in a Los Angeles County theater as long as their qualifying run is eventually confirmed. Funimation has also confirmed plans of a broader theatrical release in the US.
