According to the esteemed producer, Boro the Caterpillar will be completed sometime in spring 2017 and will be screened at the Ghibli Museum sometime in June or July next year. It is expected to be a 12-minute animated short featuring both hand-written animation and CG imagery.

Miyazaki retired from directing feature-length films after The Wind Rises, but is still creating short animated films for the Ghibli museum. The Academy Award-winning animation director is also rumored to be coming out of retirement for a new film.
