SMAP may have disbanded, but Takuya Kimura is furthering his solo career as he stars in the live-action film adaptation of Hiroaki Samoura’s Blade of the Immortal manga. Warner Brothers Japan has started streaming the film’s latest trailer and it introduces Kimura as the male lead, Manji.

The video also previews the film’s theme song,  “Live to Die Another Day ~Sonzai Shoumei~” by Miyavi. According to the musician, director Takashi Miike asked him to make the song a “bridge between the movie’s worldview and the real world”. Miyavi is a guitarist and friend of the movie’s lead, Takuya Kimura. In fact, Miyavi even composed several songs for SMAP, including “Top of the World” and “Otherside”.

Aside from the new trailer, the website also revealed a new visual. It features Kimura as Manji, along with the other characters from the film.

Actress Hana Sugisaki also stars in the film as Rin, a girl whose family was killed by a group of swordsmen. The manga follows Rin and her bodyguard, Manji, in their quest for vengeance. The manga also inspired an anime adaptation back in 2008.

Directed by Takashi Miike, the film premieres on 29 April 2017.
