The Hollywood Power Rangers film will be making its Japanese-dubbed premiere in Japan on 15th July. And those who come to see the film will also have a special treat courtesy of One Punch Man mangaka, Yuusuke Murata. It turns out that the man who created the Eye Shield 21 manga also illustrated the Hollywood Power Rangers. This is all for the live-action film’s promotion.

Movie theaters screening Power Rangers will be distributing the illustration as postcards on opening day. They actually made a total of 300,000 postcards, but better be quick! This is because they will only distribute these postcards while supplies last.

Saban syndicated several super sentai tokusatsu shows to create their Power Ranger franchise. When they released the pictures of the new Hollywood film’s armor designs, they received mixed reactions in Japan. While many liked the new designs, others found it tacky or too “Hollywood”. But then again, they may have also changed their minds when they saw Murata’s take on them.

Aside from One Punch Man and Eye Shield 21, Murata has gained a reputation for his guest illustrations. These include works for Capcom’s Street Fighter, and of course, Marvel’s Spider-Man. He even did an illustration for Back to the Future!
