WOW Japan is honored to have Japan’s alternative rock icons — who recently released their fourth studio album, to take time out from their packed schedule to answer a few questions from us.

Is this your first time in Singapore? What are you looking forward to?

I’m from the northern part of Japan where it’s cold and snowy every winter, so I am envious of warm tropical countries. We’re really excited to be visiting Singapore. I’m also interested in historical buildings and old streets where I can experience the culture of the country, although this time, I don’t think that we’ll have much opportunity to sightsee. The thing that I’m looking forward to the most is the concert itself.

Congratulations on the release of your 4th album “Chihou Toshi no Memento Mori”. How was the recording for the album like? What were the hardest moments? What where the easiest moments?

Hiromu Akita: The most enjoyable part was the process of recording and completing the song. This album was created with the town that I’m living in as its theme. It’s in a rural part of Japan where people are affected by problems caused by low wages and poor health and feel trapped, and I wanted to create an album that would honor my friends who live there, for the admirable way they soldier on. It was a very difficult theme and one that I struggled with the most. But because of that, I was able to create an album that I was satisfied with.

Many of your singles were used as theme songs for popular games and anime such as Nier:Automata and Boku no Hero Academia. What are your thoughts on that?

Hiromu Akita: I am very grateful for the opportunity. Whenever I encounter new anime or game titles, the feelings that I have towards it becomes music, so I always think that each meeting is a fortunate one. Thanks to that, a lot more people are also aware of our music. This also had a part to play in our being able to perform in Singapore this time around.

Please give a message to your fans in Singapore.

Hiromu Akita: Since it’s our first time in Singapore, we are kind of worried if there will be fans but at the same time, we don’t want to care about that too much and will perform our very best like how we always do in Japan. As our music places a lot of emphasis on words, that there might be some parts where it is difficult to convey our music but we will nevertheless do our best to reach out to those who already knew us from anime, and those who have yet to know us, with our message.

Are you as excited as we are to watch “amazarashi x Aimer Asia Tour 2018”?! Tickets are available for the tour finale in Singapore via Apactix. See you all there!
