Hayao Miyazaki is returning with a new film titledĀ “Kimi-tachi wa Dou Ikiru ka”, or How Do You Live?. However, during a special event for his new book, Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki revealed that fans might have to wait longer. During the book event, the Ghibli co-founder revealed that Miyazaki needs about 3-4 more years to finish the film.

He also added that Ghibli has been working on the film for two years now. Suzuki also stated that they’re doing things that the studio has never done before withĀ “Kimi-tachi wa Dou Ikiru ka”.

It seems like Miyazaki’s new film has the same title asĀ Genzaburou Yoshino’s 1937 classic novel. But while he won’t be basing on the book itself, Miyazaki reveals that the book’s story itself has great meaning for the film’s protagonist.Ā It will follow a man named Koperu and his uncle, and will chronicle his spiritual growth.

Previously, it was revealed that he is coming out of retirement to dedicate the new movie for his grandson. As for him coming out of retirement, the NHK documentary,Ā Owaranai Hito, orĀ ā€œOne Who Doesnā€™t End,ā€ revealed his plans.
