Set in the coastlines of the Shima Peninsula’s Oharai Beach, “Wave!!” revolves around 8 young surfers aspiring to go pro and be selected to represent Japan at the upcoming Tokyo Olympics 2020 – in which wind/waves surfing has officially been recognised as a competitive sports since the ISA World Surfing Games Championship that took place in September 2018. The story showcase their determination as they train hard under the sun to stand out amongst peers and rivals alike as Japan’s official surfing Olympic representative.

The project has full collaborative tie-ups with the real-world surfing organisation Nippon Surfing Association (NSA); as well as support from big-name surf-boards maker/brand Murasaki Sports Inc. and mass-media like Surf Magazine and radio station Bay FM78. Let’s take a look at its very first promotional movie/video!

The seiyuus for the core 8 surfers in the project are:

  • Tomoaki Maeno as Masaki Hinaoka
  • Hitoshi Ogasawara as Sho Akitsuki
  • Yoshiki Nakajima as Naru Tanaka

  • Yusuke Shirai as Yuta Matsukaze
  • Shunichi Toki as Naoya Kido

“Wave!!” will be taking part in the upcoming Animate Girls Festival 2018 taking place on 10 ~ 11 November 2018 to promote the new project. A special seiyuu event took place on 20 October 2108 to promote the event. 7 out of the 8 main casts’ voice actors were featured guests at the event – with the exception of Shotaro Morikubo since he had other work engagements at the time. The project committee however did prepared a pre-recorded video message where Morikubo-san greeted the fans and conveyed his thoughts about his character through. Let’s take a look at some of the photographic highlights of the event!
