NX, Netflix’s official twitter page for science fiction content, recently dropped a huge bombshell. They announced a new Ghost in the Shell anime for 2020, and it will be in 3D! They also teased fans with this image:

Is that a new look for Motoko Kusanagi?! Well, we might find out soon enough…

And speaking of the anime, the tweet also confirmed its title, Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045. Appleseed’s Shinji Aramaki and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex’s Kenji Kamiyama will be co-directing the series over at Production I.G and Sola Digital Arts. It won’t have a movie format, but will instead be an anime series.

The staff also described the new anime as an “original anime series” and ” a next generation anime film”. However, they haven’t announced much information about the series yet.
