It looks like 2020 isn’t just getting one Doraemon film, but two! Aside from next March’s Doraemon the Movie: Nobita’s New Dinosaur, it seems that the robotic blue cat will also be starring in his second 3DCG movie. It’s title is Stand By Me Doraemon 2. They even released a new teaser trailer and key visual:

Ryuuichi Yagi and Takashi Yamazaki are returning from the first film as directors, with Yamazaki also serving as the film’s scriptwriter. Its story will be based on the 2000 film Doraemon: Obaachan no Omoide. However, they will be adding more elements, as well as a bigger focus on Nobita and Shizuka’s love story, which they touched on in the first Stand By Me Doraemon film.

This is all part of Doraemon’s 50th anniversary celebrations, which also include a film festival featuring only Doraemon films and shorts. As for Nobita’s new Dinosaur, the film premieres on 6th March, and will begin with Nobita meeting two new dinosaurs. This will be quite fitting, as the first-ever Doraemon film is titled Doraemon the Movie: Nobita’s Dinosaur, which debuted in 1980.
