Via Mashable: a Swedish-designed, Malaysian-made handheld console called “Playdate” is scheduled for release this 2020. The device’s provenance was confirmed by one of the designers from Swedish company Panic, through a Twitter exchange with a Malaysian musical artiste.

The device boasts of an old-school monochrome screen and a control pad layout similar to the Nintendo Gameboy. But what sets Playdate apart is the hand-crank on the right-hand side, which is a game mechanic for some of the Playdate’s exclusive games.

Priced at USD $150 each, the Playdate is out sometime this year.
