The sequel to the live-action theatrical adaptation of Yasuhisa Hara’s “KINGDOM” has been officially titled “KINGDOM 2 Harukanaru Daichi e”! The original cast including Kento Yamazaki and Kanna Hashimoto are set to reprise their roles in the upcoming sequel. The release is scheduled for this Summer of 2022.

The first “KINGDOM” film was released in April 2019 and made JPY 57.3 in the box office. In the 43rd Japan Academy Awards, Ryo Yoshizawa as Piao/Ying Zheng won the Best Supporting Actor Award while Masami Nagasawa as Yang Duan He won the Best Supporting Actress Award. The film also won for cinematography and art direction.

“KINGDOM” also had its Asian Premiere in Singapore in June 2019, with lead actor Kento Yamazaki flying over to meet fans at a special event at the Marina Bay Sands Threatre.

Set in the Qin Dynasty during the warring states period, Shin is an orphan who dreams of becoming a great general. One day, he has a fateful encounter with a young nobleman Eisei, the true heir to the Qin throne, and together they seek to unite different factions under a single kingdom.
