CLAMP’s Cardcaptor Sakura is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a brand new TV anime adaptation. This time, the anime will be adapting the Clear Card Arc from CLAMP’s popular manga franchise. Now, the anime’s official website has unveiled a brand new visual, and it features Sakura Kinomoto as a middle school student.

Aside from the new visual, the website also revealed that the anime will premiere this 7th January at 7:30 am JST. NHK will be broadcasting the Clear Card Arc TV anime, as it did the original back in the 90’s.

And speaking of the 90’s, the original cast will also be returning. However, they will all be sporting new looks, as the website also revealed their character designs. Let’s just say that they’re a bit more grown up than the last time.

Sakura Tange as Sakura Kinomoto
Aya Hisakawa as Keroberos
Junko Iwao as Tomoyo Daidouji
Motoko Kumai as Syaoran Li
Tomokazu Seki as Touya Kinomoto
Morio Asaka, who directed the original TV anime back in the 90’s, is also returning to direct the series over at MADHOUSE. CLAMP is also very active in the anime’s production as well. CLAMP’s Nanase Ohkawa is writing the scripts while CLAMP’s Mokona is handling the costume and card designs.
