While filming a downhill scene in Yamanishi Prefecture for the live-action Yowamushi Pedal drama, actor Eiji Takigawa suffered serious injuries. Now, the actor’s agency, Eri Office, has revealed that the incident resulted in the actor suffered a spinal chord injury.

According to reports, a helicopter rushed Takigawa to the hospital following a spill downhill. During filming, Takigawa suddenly collided with the left curb while trying to ride along the right curb. He’s still currently recuperating in a hospital, and is focusing on medical treatment.

Despite the incident, Yowamushi Pedal 2 will move forward with its broadcast as planned. Takigawa and his family even gave it his blessing. He plays Hakone captain, Juichi Fukutomi in the live-action drama. However, Takigawa won’t return in the live-action Show By Rock musical. He was supposed to play Rom in the Live Musical Show By Rock!! -Shin’en no Cross Ambivalence- stage musical this October.

Yowamushi Pedal 2 will air in two parts, and will be following Sakamichi Onoda’s first Inter-High competition. The first part, which comprises of seven episodes, already started airing last 18th August. Meanwhile, the second part of the series, which has six episodes, premieres this November 2017.
