Singapore Philatelic Museum is proud to present another unique exhibition, this time aimed especially at fans of Japanese animation! Anime X Stamps Exhibition is happening at the Singapore Philatelic Museum til the 15th of April 2018 (the museum is open from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily). Check out the comprehensive collection of over 700 stamps and philatelic materials from Japan and Singapore, rare one-of-a-kind original production artwork, and limited edition collectibles, toys, costumes and figurines – a rare opportunity to see all these under one roof!

Aside from the anime stamps on display, there are also plenty of other things to see or do! We’ll try not to give too much away, but fans of popular animes like Astroboy, One Piece, Dragon Ball, Doraemon, and Studio Ghibli are in for a treat!

The exhibition also delves into the history of anime, as it has been 100 years since the oldest surviving Japanese animation film, The Dull Sword by Junichi Kouchi, dating back to 1917. You can learn a bit about the production process, from concept to animation and dubbing via rare one-of-a-kind artwork from Naruto.

There is also an activity area where you can take 3D illusion photos or have a go at drawing your own anime characters. We tried our hand at the anime drawing station, and let’s just say we’ll stick to our current jobs here at WOW Japan rather than embarking on a career as a mangaka.

While we’re on the subject of being a manga artist, the museum has commissioned a local artist, Gravitine, to design the mascot for this exhibition. The museum has also worked with other local organizations such as Singapore Cosplay Club, Pura Comixmag, Comics Society (Singapore), MINT Museum of Toys, and the Japan Creative Centre to put together the colourful displays and ingenious interactive modules.

Singapore Philatelic Museum has even more exciting news, with Animania Sunday, happening on 17 December 2017!

Show off your anime trivia knowledge with the Animania Fun Quiz, learn how to make delicious kushikatsu, wear traditional Japanese yukata or hip costumes, pick up a manga drawing tip or two during the mascot talk, and last but not least have some interactive fun with the guest cosplayers!
