The official Olympic Channel Facebook Page has started streaming a new video reintroducing the chosen anime ambassadors for the Tokyo 2020 games. Previously, the games chose characters from Astro Boy, Sailor Moon, Crayon Shin-chan, One Piece, Naruto Shippuden, Yo-Kai Watch, Dragon Ball Super, and Maho Girls PreCure as the official ambassadors. However, the choices were a bit controversial. This is because many found it weird that of the chosen ambassadors, none were from Nintendo. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe appeared at the conclusion of the Rio 2016 Olympics cosplaying as Mario. Because of this, many people thought that Mario would be a key feature, but in the end, they didn’t include him.

But fret not Nintendo fans, because there’s still hope! One fan asked the Facebook page, “Where is Pikachu?” To this, the Olympic Channel replied “maybe it will be a great surprise during the Opening? :)”
